Mostly short viewpoint walks rather than a strenuous trek — the region's ecology is the main draw, including endemic species like the Amboli bush frog and Amboli tiger toad.

How to reach Amboli town

Maharashtra's southernmost hill station — reached via Sawantwadi on the Konkan Railway, not the Pune/Mumbai belt.

Reach Sawantwadi Road station

The nearest railhead, on the Konkan Railway, roughly 37 km from Amboli and served by long-distance trains from Mumbai, Pune and Goa.

From Sawantwadi Road station

Shared taxi or auto onward to Amboli town.

From Kolhapur (via the interior)

There's no direct Kolhapur–Amboli bus. Take an ST bus from Kolhapur's Rankala stand to Sawantwadi (roughly 3.5–4 hours), then a local ST bus onward to Amboli (about 31 km, ~1 hour).

By private vehicle

Kolhapur–Kagal–Nipani–Ajara–Gavse–Amboli is a workable direct road route, though not practical if you're relying on buses.

ℹ️No general entry permit for the ghat itself, though some viewpoints and waterfalls charge a small local fee. Best — and correspondingly most crowded and slippery — in monsoon, July to September.
