Safety
Lohagad is about as low-risk as Sahyadri treks get — the main hazards are crowding and slippery stone on monsoon weekends.
Before you go
- Go early on monsoon weekends — this is one of the most crowded treks near Mumbai/Pune
- Carry cash for parking/local food stalls at the base
On the trail
- The connecting ridge (naagin) to twin fort Visapur is narrow and exposed — take care in wind/rain
- No cooking fires allowed on the fort (ASI rule) — carry ready-to-eat food
Solo-specific
- Very beginner and solo-friendly — always crowded enough to not feel isolated
- Still keep footing careful on the exposed ridge sections regardless of crowd
