Safety

Rajgad is a large fort complex with several sub-peaks (Padmavati Machi, Sanjeevani Machi, Suvela Machi) — it's easy to underestimate how much walking is involved once inside.

Before you go
  • Plan for a full day — the fort complex is large and easy to under-time
  • Carry more water than you think you'll need; little shade on the ridge
On the trail
  • Some rock-cut steps near the Padmavati Machi gate are narrow and slippery when wet
  • Turn back before dark — descent in low light is genuinely harder than the climb
Solo-specific
  • Popular weekend trek — you'll usually find other trekkers around
  • If continuing to Torna as a 2-day range trek, tell someone your full plan, not just day one
